Nobody’s Perfect is a national short film competition inviting young people from across the country to submit examples of their acting, directing, writing or music through our website. Winners will be chosen by our panel of movie actors, producers, directors and writers to work with our production team creating 4 short films to be screened at the Odeon Cinema, Covent Garden, London on October 21st 2008.
Prizes will also be given to the best examples from the different regions of the UK.
We’re not looking for finished works of art necessarily, just something that shows us your potential – a rough draft of a first scene from a play or a recording of you singing in your bedroom would do.It’s our job to spot the diamonds in the rough!
The production of the films will be a collaborative training process over three weekends (September 20th & 21st, 27th & 28th and October 11th & 12th 2008), and will cover all the aspects film-making from pre-production and screenwriting, production and shooting to editing and music. Don't worry if that all seems a lot, you'll have professionals and other winners working closely with you to ensure you can be involved in as much or as little as you like.
The themes of the four short films will be based around the following subjects:
- Emotions
- Bullying
- Relationships
- Self-harm
- Sexuality
- Housing
All the winners will be mentored by professional movie directors, producers, musicians, actors and writers.
THE LONDON PROJECT:The competition will travel around the country and our first location will be London.
The filming and production will be based in Islington and the screening will be in Covent Garden. We will cover travel expenses up to the value of a daily Travelcard and we will also provide lunch. If you're outside London, carry on sharing your ideas and talents with us, and we'll bring Nobody's Perfect to your area as soon as we can. Vote in our poll if you want your city to be next!
